    Welcoming the C-X5 to the fleet - 11 May 2022 It can’t be easy being Mazda. The Japanese company tries like mad to forge its own path – building the MX-5 when no one else is producing cheap sports cars, or whacking a rotary engine into a ‘suicide-doored’ coupé, or even plugging away with naturally aspirated units when everyone else is downsizing and turbocharging. We all admire the brand and its tenacity. And then we all toddle off and buy the latest German SUV. Same old, same old. But even Mazda can’t buck the inevitable forever and is now making headway along a similar path:last year in the UK, 60% of its cars were of the SUV variety. So here we are, staring at our fleet’s new and facelifted Mazda CX-5 and wondering whether it’s going to be bonkers or boring. Genesis X Speedium Coupe

  Genesis will showcase its striking X Speedium Coupé EV concept at the   Goodwood Festival of Speed  next month, giving clues as to what future EVs from the premium Korean marque will look like. The  Genesis  X Speedium Coupé is described as a "freestyle" design exercise based on last year's  X Concept , led by chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke, to show the evolution of the brand's Athletic Elegance design language. It will be shown alongside the all-electric  Genesis Electrified GV70  SUV, also making its European debut at the West Sussex event, ahead of a market launch in the coming months. New 2022 Peugeot 408

  Peugeot has confirmed a new model called the Peugeot 408 will be revealed on 22 June, which is expected to sit between the   Peugeot 308   hatchback and   Peugeot 3008   SUV. The French maker said the model “combines the characteristic codes of SUVs with a dynamic fastback silhouette”. Previously thought to be called the Peugeot 4008 and a coupe-SUV sibling to the 3008, the 408 name announced today suggests it will instead be more focused on fastback saloon design while still being high-riding. Alongside the 408 name confirmation,  Peugeot  has released an image of the car’s front, which shows an evolution of the Peugeot’s current grille. Horizontal lines are body-coloured and become thicker as the grille extends towards the side of the car. New Lexus EV supercar

  Lexus is developing an electric supercar to serve as a spiritual successor to  the LFA , due for launch by 2030, and will show off the concept version in public for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Originally shown as part of the shock unveiling of  15 new Toyota and Lexus EV concepts , the supercar will be one of the EVs launched by  Lexus  as it ramps up to phasing out combustion. It will make its public debut in Sussex from 23-26 June alongside the all-new  Lexus RZ450e  electric SUV and the updated version of the  Lexus UX 300e  crossover.  Lexus will offer an EV in all segments by 2030, by which point it will sell only electric cars in China, Europe and North America, and in 2035 it will end ICE car sales altogether.
